All it requires is fabrication of a steel adapter plate to interface between the Cincinnati column face and the back of the Bridgeport head. I put in new spindle bearings then gave up on the project due to lack of time. If you ever decide to tackle your project again l would consider an even trade: Bridgeport head for Cincinnati 2M vertical head.

It's a Cincinnati 0-8 Vert, and seems to be from the 1940's. I wired it up last week and everything seemed to work great, including the cutting oil pump (agh what a mess) and the X-axis table feed. A dead give away on old/newer mills is spindle speed. The old ones seldom went over 500 top end. Common for a "dial type" to go to 1200 or 1500 there abouts. First true dial types (thirties) had both speed and feed dials on the same side plate casting. Look on the left hand vertical way at top and I'll bet you will find a serial number.

I've ran across an old Cincinnati #2 Horizontal mill. I currently have a vertical mill, but I am wondering if I need a horizontal mill, or what I could use it for. My Cincinnati #3 horizontal took an 8000 pound forklift to move it into the shop far enough to use rollers and pry bars to move it the rest of the way. I suspect the vertical is even heavier. A good rollback truck operator/rigger can put that machine on your shop floor with surprisingly little effort. The bucks spent are worth it.
